Euphorbia schinzii, a dwarf succulent, still seems to be having identity issues relating to species including E. venteri, E. aeruginosa and E. limpopoane (Hargreaves in www.euphorbia-international.org). He finds the younger plants to be having thicker stems and tuberous roots. As older, bigger plants, they develop rhizomes, but the stems become thinner as the plant spreads. However that may really be, the plants are low growing with clumps of very spiny, blue-green erect stems.
The plants grow in stony, arid, full sun conditions.
