Euphorbia evansii

    Euphorbia evansii

The Lowveld euphorbia has narrow, erect stems of about 1,5 cm in diameter (SA Tree List No. 348). They are three or four-angled and rarely constricted into segments. The margins are sinuate or wavy, twisting round in interesting curves of the angled ridges where the whitish paired spines occur. There are spine shields along these ridges, separate in their sequence, unlike some species where the horny shields are continuous.

The fruit is a three-lobed capsule, 6 mm in diameter.

The habitat is hot, dry woodland at medium altitudes, often in rocky areas (Coates Palgrave, 2002).
