Euphorbia davyi is a dwarf succulent with a thick underground caudex tapering conically to a few roots and a number of above-ground pine-apple-shaped stems topped with leafy rosettes. The leaves grow in about three layers on top of each stem, while some old stems become leafless.
Old plants will have more of the above-ground barrel-shaped stems. They are covered in conical surface protrusions or tubercles where old leaves have dropped off in previous seasons, below the leaves at the top. The tubercles are arranged in a semi-regular pattern. The central area of the above-ground part of the plant is clear of stems; they are arranged in a growing number of rings around this open patch.
The distribution of the plant is in the Gauteng, Limpopo, North West Province, Botswana and Zimbabwe (www.ville-ge.ch).
