Euphorbia oxystegia leaves

    Euphorbia oxystegia leaves

The leaves of Euphorbia oxystegia are alternate, scattered near stem tips only, as they are early deciduous, leaving the stems bare soon. The leaves are long and lanceolate, gently curving downwards to their tips; the margins curving inwards. Leaf margins are entire and wavy, tapering to a sessile base. Leaf colour is blue-green to a faint purplish green, hairless on both surfaces.

This plant was photographed in April in Namaqualand. It is not a well-known species and may be rare (iSpot; JSTOR).
