    Euphorbia schinzii spines

    The paired spines upon Euphorbia schinzii stems point up and out like antelope horns from their hard cushions, spaced along the four vertical stem ridges. The spines are thin, hard and sharp. Brown to purplish colour is gradually lost as they age upon the growing stem; the lower ones in picture pale grey, almost white.

    Some doubling of spine pairs on the same spot on some of the ridges is visible upon the plant in the photo... better to be safe than sorry.
