Aloe hereroensis leaves

Aloe hereroensis grows about thirty leaves per rosette. Stems are not common on this Aloe, sometimes seen on old specimens with dry leaves covering the base.

The lance-shaped or triangular leaves curve up and may recurve slightly near their tips, forming an S-shape. The upper surface is flat near the base, channelled higher up and blue-green, faintly lined. The lower one is convex, marked in H-shaped spots. The average leaf is about 30 cm long and 6 cm wide.

The margins are cartilaginous, armed with brown, deltoid teeth up to 4 mm long and 9 mm apart. The teeth are sometimes notched or bifid, divided into two tips (Reynolds, 1974; Van Wyk and Smith, 2003).
