Crassula sericea var. sericea on the rocks

Crassula sericea var. sericea is a dwarf succulent of arid, rocky terrain, sometimes coping in little soil stored in crevices among quartzite sandstone.

The partial shade of sheltered ledges as in the picture, serves a plant well when positioned so fortunately. This plant branches and spreads as the rocks allow, to become a shrublet of 20 cm tall and about equally wide (www.plantzafrica.com).
