Crassula peploides flowers

The flowers of Crassula peploides have five creamy white spreading petal appendages, contrasting with the central pink of the five carpels. Between these two rings the five stamens with creamy anthers can be recognised; everything coming in fives in these flowers. Greenish grey fleshy sepals with rounded tips, shorter than the white of the petals, are present in the gaps between the petals. Flowering happens in summer and autumn.

The distribution of C. peploides is centred in Lesotho with overflow into South Africa: to the north in Mpumalanga, the south in the Eastern Cape, to the west just over the Free state border and in the east plant is found in the Drakensberg parts of KwaZulu-Natal. The habitat is high altitude grassland receiving summer rain.
