The succulent, opposite leaves of Crassula sericea var. velutina are borne erectly on short, thick stalks. The internodes are usually invisible, covered behind the leaves.
The leaf-shape is obovate to elliptic, a flattish disc tapering to sharply angled margins, slightly convex on both surfaces. The leaf-tip is obtusely pointed or rounded, the base tapering.
The leaves are more or less covered in short, soft velvety hairs as the variety name, velutina (Latin) indicates. The leaf colour is grey-green lower down, shading to pale brown where the sun has most effect; sometimes more reddish or green than here (Frandsen, 2017; Williamson, 2010; Le Roux, et al, 2005; iNaturalist).
