This well-rounded Pteronia pallens or Scholtzbos was seen near Montagu at the western end of the Little Karoo. The time was March, the beginning of autumn by which time the flowering season is over.
The dry husks still contain fruits covered in silvery-white hairs, hovering at stem-tips. All await release and transportation on gusts of air to new plant birth places in the veld.
Life and death are normal for all species, worrying about it is reserved for humans... as far as we know!
