Agathosma martiana flowers and buds

    Agathosma martiana flowers and buds

This Agathosma martiana stem-tip bears a central flower cluster, ringed by branchlets that each carries a cluster of greenish buds for more flowering later.

There are red dots on short staminodes in the flower centres, and more red dots on the spreading petal tips around them. Young stamens have thicker, fleshy filaments, while the old filaments are no longer straight. Their anthers are smaller and brown, if not dropped off already.

The oval leaves with white, smooth margins overlap fairly closely on the upper stems. The fruit is mostly three-chambered (Bond and Goldblatt, 1984; JSTOR; iNaturalist; http://www.worldfloraonline.org).
