    Helichrysum teretifolium grows in a coastal belt from the Cape Peninsula to KwaZulu-Natal. The habitat is diverse over the large distribution of the plants ranging from sandy flats, dunes and mountain slopes. The vegetation around them includes Albany thicket, fynbos and grassland. the species is not considered to be threatened in its habitat early in the twenty first century (Manning, 2007; iSpot; www.redlist.sanbi.org).
