Clutia ericoides flowers deserving attention

    Clutia ericoides flowers deserving attention

The dioecious Clutia ericoides plant grows its flowers separately on male and female bushes. The sepals and petals are nearly the same length, cohering and round-tipped, spreading in a shallow bowl here around the female floral parts in the form of five styles that also spread. Inside each flower base, glands are visible on the sepals, alternating with the petals.

The open flowers are sure to be noticed, although they are positioned among the leaves on the straight branches (Vlok and Schutte-Vlok 2015; Bond and Goldblatt, 1984; iNaturalist).
