Blepharis capensis ageing flower

    Blepharis capensis ageing flower

The old Blepharis capensis corolla turns brown with age. In picture the longitudinal, roughly parallel stripes to the rounded lobes and the hairy surface show up well on the old petal.

The four stamens in two unequal pairs have cylindrical filaments. The upper pair is flattened and horned, their anthers exserted.

The bracts are spine-tipped (Curtis-Scott, et al, 2020; Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2015; JSTOR; iNaturalist).
