Stilbe vestita

    Stilbe vestita

Stilbe vestita, sometimes commonly called the robust candlestick, is a rigid, multistemmed, therefore resprouting shrub reaching about 1,2 m in height. The branches are hairless when mature.

The plant resembles S. albiflora that does not have the silky petal margins.

The species distribution is in the far southwest of the Western Cape from the Cape Peninsula to Worcester.

The habitat is lower to middle fynbos slopes in sandstone derived soils. The species is not considered to be threatened in its habitat early in the twenty first century (Manning, 2007; Bean and Johns, 2005; Andrew, 2017; iNaturalist; JSTOR; https://pza.sanbi.org; http://redlist.sanbi.org).
