Pentatrichia integra leaves

    Pentatrichia integra leaves

The simple, alternate leaves of Pentatrichia integra are sessile and oblong with pointed tips.

The blades are hairless, sometimes curved, dark green and thickish, adapted for living in dry conditions. The midribs are often visible, the other veins obscure, while sessile surface glands are present. The leaf margins are entire. Leaf dimensions are about 10 mm long and 3 mm wide (Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2015; Klaassen and Bergh, 2012: Inclusion of the Cape genus Anisothrix in the Namibian-centred genus Pentatrichia (Asteraceae, Gnaphalieae) based on a molecular phylogenetic analysis.
