Melolobium exudans

    Melolobium exudans

Melolobium exudans is a single-stemmed, sticky shrublet reaching heights from 30 cm to 60 cm. The much-branched stems are without spines, the plant base woody.

The species distribution is in the Western Cape from the Cape Peninsula to Saldanha, Agulhas and the west of the Little Karoo. The photo was taken southwest of Oudtshoorn on the Minwater farm.

The species is karoid scrub, succulent Karoo and coastal dunes. The species is not considered to be threatened in its habitat early in the twenty first century (Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2015; Leistner, (Ed.), 2000; Bond and Goldblatt, 1984; JSTOR; iNaturalist; http://redlist.sanbi.org).
