Dichapetalum cymosum leaves

    Dichapetalum cymosum leaves

The simple leaves of Dichapetalum cymosum are alternate, each with two tiny stipules, linear in shape, positioned at the base of the long petiole.

Young leaves have a hairy covering, lost when they become mature, stiff and leathery. The leaf-shape is lanceolate, tapering at the apex and base. Leaf margins are entire, sometimes wavy.

The lateral veins are conspicuous and coarse, ascending in a curve from the cream coloured midrib to near the margins where they loop. These veins are prominent on the lower leaf surfaces.

Leaf size varies from 3 cm to 15 cm by 3 cm to 6 cm (Vahrmeijer, 1981; Pooley, 1988; Wikipedia).
