Stoebe incana flowerheads

    Stoebe incana flowerheads

The spiky, globular flowerheads of Stoebe incana grow at stem-tips. They comprise small, densely clustered disc florets among pointed bracts that are golden to dark brown in colour and longer than the five-lobed florets. There are nectaries present and later pappus bristles of feather-like hairs.

Flowering happens from late summer to autumn (Bond and Goldblatt, 1984; iNaturalist; http://fernkloof.org.za).
