Trigonocapnos lichtensteinii flowers

The small, bisexual flowers of Trigonocapnos lichtensteinii are laterally symmetrical. The tiny, two-segmented calyces are triangular, concealed in the photo. The four petals are arranged in two dissimilar whorls, the outer ones sac-like, the inner ones narrower.

There is a triangular spur ascending on the posterior petal. The corolla colours are pale pink to nearly white with magenta and dark purple parts. The ovary is superior.

The small fruit is asymmetrical, three-angled to about oblong in shape, up to 4 mm long. It is one-seeded, growing on a recurved pedicel. The style at its tip may drop off early. The oblong seed has a thin brown coat (Leistner, (Ed.), 2000; Manning and Goldblatt, 1997; Bond and Goldblatt, 1984; iNaturalist).
