Galium tomentosum leafy stem-tip

Spaced leaf whorls at a Galium tomentosum stem-tip comprise narrow leaves with acutely pointed tips, midribs sunken above and blades somewhat recurved, more strongly near the tips.

The leaf-shape in picture is obovate to elliptic, rather than ovate as is sometimes the shape. Small, spaced marginal teeth are like hooks or tiny recurved spines, likely to attach to clothes and skin.

Lower leaf surfaces are paler green than above, apart from the dark green midribs that are conspicuous low down on the lower surfaces (Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2015; Shearing and Van Heerden, 2008; Leistner, (Ed.), 2000; iNaturalist; https://www.fernkloof.org.za).
