Comfort is so different for all those that inhabit the earth! Each creature, plant and organism has its own definition of the lap of luxury. These haworthias and neighbours are living it up, while all is not so well with some in the community. But thats life!
Fancy hotel accommodation would never do if the favourite moment has one’s fat little leaves semi-embedded in sandy soil. Add bushy canopy for a hot day’s sunshield, albeit that the "home" bush is now dead. Its at least still lying here, providing part shade. All of this makes matters go swimmingly, also when the winds howl overhead.
To be huddled against the dependable rock of one’s life, roots accessing moisture rather than having to draw from stored leaf-reserves. This is really the life! The good feeling, security at its best.
Never saw the Eiffel Tower, but content from disseminating lovely seeds year after year and adding a leaf rosette on a new branch in the good times.
The neighbours? These Curio radicans guys are funny plants. They grow rambling branches all over the place and flower when they like. Wouldn’t mind them covering the soil a little closer by for saving moisture, but then they might sink adventitious roots and suck it all up themselves.
Rather like the lichens... quiet types keeping to themselves. Never compete for land off their rock and no roots that intrude.
Sad about the big bush dying. It was such a help in extreme times of heat, wind and storm. Its seeds are around though. A welcome replacement could arrive after the next winter rain.
