Psoralea pinnata on a mountain

Psoralea pinnata, the fonteinbos or bloukeur (both of these common names are Afrikaans), is an erect shrub or small tree confined to a small habitat from the Cape Peninsula and stretching eastwards beyond False Bay. It grows along forest margins and near water courses.

Some older literature sources make mention of a much larger distribution for this plant including large parts of the summer rainfall area. This may be due to a narrower definition of the species having been adopted more recently? 

The flowers are light blue, mauve or nearly white, blooming from spring into autumn.

The genus comprises about 50 shrubs and trees, many of which occur in the Western Cape, all in the fynbos (Bean and Johns, 2005; www.plantzafrica.com).
