Crassula tecta is a low-growing, grey or grey-green leaf succulent, the branched leafy clusters tufted and usually no taller than 5 cm. When there is a flower stalk present, double that height is reached.
The plant grows in shallow, gravelly soils from Montagu to Steytlerville and southwards through Baviaanskloof to the Langkloof. The plant is reasonably abundant in habitat, not considered threatened early in the twenty first century (Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2010; Moriarty, 1997; www.redlist.sanbi.org; www.plantzafrica.com).
